The Run Red trip is a mix of casting and trolling key areas in search of the not so uncommon 40” plus sized Pike that inhabit the weed lines and rock piles of Upper Red Lake. You will get to fish areas and structure that has not made it to maps while using unique presentations and methods for efficiently catching pike from what is consider one of the top five lakes for producing trophy pike in America. WALLEYE

  Work the red stained depths for walleye that have been classed as some of the most palatable fish to swim the fresh waters of North America. The Red Lake walleye has comeback creating a solid walleye fishery that will not only put numbers in the boat has proven its trophy potential with several 27-28" fish in the landing net this year.  Learn methods of locating and trigger fish in what some think is a featureless lake, spend the day with Jonny P learning Upper Red Lake is anything but featureless. Then have Jonny P's favorite launch Westwinds Resort not only fillet your catch by a licensed meat packer but also have them prepared with sides while you kick back with a beverage relaxing after a day on the water.

CRAPPIE

During the early part of open water season you may spend the day learning some of the very unique methods for targeting Upper Red Lake Crappies. Spider trolling, drop shot rigging and even crank bait presentations are used to target and capture the overgrown Red Lake Crappie. To fully understand the red lake Crappie you have hold one of these 15-16" mosters to realize just why poeple travel from around the world to chase these crappies. 

All the required gear and tackle is furnished. All you need bring is a fishing license.

Iced Pike will place you in one on one battle with one of the most ferocious cold water predators to inhabit North America. Whether you are battling this fish hand over hand on tip up line or watching the line strip off of the reel catching a trophy pike through the ice is an experience like no other.  Outdoors with Jonny P will not only position you on the latest trophy pike bite on Upper Red Lake you will also be able to learn about the tackle, tricks and tips for catching and handling these large fish using both artificial and live bait presentations. You are welcome to use your own gear although Outdoors with Jonny will supply the tip-ups, rods/reels, bait, tackle, Otter portable shelters and heaters for your on ice adventure. Outdoors with Jonny P will also print one 8”x10” glossy photo of each one of your trophy pike catches and ship them to you after your trip; Catch Photo Release is highly encouraged by Outdoors with Jonny P.

Early ice pike trips are available. All early ice trip bookings are at the mercy of mother nature, if Outdoors with Jonny P does not feel that the ice conditions are safe for foot travel you will be notified as soon as possible and rescheduling will occur at that time. Early ice trips are also more physically demanding in nature due to the walk onto slippery early season ice; please consider this when booking your pike trips between November 25^th and December 24^th.

        Trips are half day trips with the option of sunrise until 11am OR 1PM until sundown. 1-4 anglers - $ 180 per trip not per person 

Ever caught a dinosaur? Well here is your chance. The Lake of the Woods area that borders the northern side if the Upper Red Lake area offers an opportunity like no other. An opportunity to see just how much battle a fresh water fish can produce. Sturgeon possess the power, size and strength to test any angler’s ability and the ability of the gear in hand. We are talking about a fish that can snap rods, straighten hooks and has even pulled boats around.  Many anglers seldom get the chance to target such a magnificent fish due to the habits and feeding methods of the Sturgeon, except for a limited period of time in the spring these 100 year old fish make the same migration they have been making for centuries. Outdoors with Jonny P will target these power houses during the end of April and early May. All gear and bait is supplied for your dinosaur hunt.  Outdoors with Jonny P will also print one 8”x10” glossy photo of each one of your Sturgeon catches and ship them to you after your trip; Catch Photo Release  and proper handling of these prehistoric fish is not only highly encouraged it is requested by Outdoors with Jonny P.
